Meet the Founder
Founder of iBill.ca — 30+ years building practical business technology.
Hi, I'm Abed.
I've spent more than 30 years building and leading business technology, systems, software, and automation.
Throughout my career, I've worked across different industries and organizations, including more than 20 years as an IT and technology leader in healthcare and 10 years leading IT and technology operations in the oil and gas industry.
My background is in Computer Science from Hocking Technical College in Nelsonville, Ohio (now Hocking College) and Computer Systems in Business from Ohio University.
My experience has included software, enterprise systems, automation, operational technology, reporting, business process improvement, and using technology to solve real world business problems. I've also been involved in SAP R/3 implementation projects and worked closely with accounting and business teams to improve reporting, automate processes, and reduce manual work.
But after more than three decades in technology, one lesson has stayed with me:
Technology should make people's work easier, not more complicated.
A technically impressive system is not necessarily a good system. Technology needs to make sense to the people using it, fit the way the business actually operates, and solve a real problem.
That philosophy has guided the way I approach technology and everything I've built.
Over the years, I've founded and built companies including iBill.ca, Dentx.ca, and ShiftApps.ca. Each company serves a different market and addresses different problems, but they share the same underlying philosophy:
Understand the real problem first. Then build technology that solves it simply, practically, and reliably.
I remain directly involved in the companies and products I build because I believe that being close to the problem and to the people using the solution is essential to building something that actually works.
I'm still curious about technology, still interested in solving difficult problems, and still enjoy turning complicated processes into something simpler and more useful.
That's what I've been doing for more than 30 years, and it's what continues to drive me today.
